Police busted inter-state gang of thieves

JAMMU, Apr 29: Katra Police has apprehended an inter-state gang of thieves. Taking advantage of the lockdown situation a gang of thieves mostly the drug addicts adopting different modus operandi conducted thefts at different places in Katra town and for that the case FIR No’s 43/2020, 74/2020 & 79/2020 U/S 457/380 IPC were registered at P/S Katra.
Consequently, Katra Police intensified night patrolling to check this menace, as some of the shops and hotels of Katra town do not have closures/shutters. Accordingly, a special team headed by Inspector Varinder Singh and Inspector Pardeep Gupta (SHO P/S Katra) under the supervision of Kuljit Singh (SDPO Katra), Naresh Singh (Addl. SP Katra) & overall supervision of SSP Reasi Rashmi Wazir was constituted. Working on these cases Katra Police succeeded in apprehending 4 thieves namely Jatin Bhati son of Rakesh Kumar of Amritsar A/P Katra, Shankar Singh son of Madan Singh of Pathankot A/P Katra, Tuhit son of Khan Mohd. of Haryana A/P Katra and Rajat Kumar son of Rajesh Kumar of Paroh Tehsil Katra, Distt Reasi and some scrap dealers of Katra town who purchased the stolen items from these thieves and recovered the stolen items from their possession. The items recovered include 5 LEDs, one water motor, one water pump, 7 small/big batteries, 1 quintal wire (copper/aluminium), one bundle of plastic pipe and Rs 8500 in cash besides some other valuables.
The approximate value of the recovered property is Rs 2 lakh and the investigation of the cases is going on.
