| Advisor Bhatnagar reviews functioning of Jal Shakti Deptt | | |
JAMMU, APRIL 30: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar today chaired a high level meeting to review the various activities of Jal Shakti Department at Civil Secretariat here.
The Advisor took detailed review of the department focusing on water supply scenario during the upcoming peak summer season besides progress of ongoing desilting works in Jammu division.
Advisor Bhatnagar emphasized upon the officers to provide uninterrupted water supply to the people besides making all possible arrangements to provide extra drinking water supply to the consumers during the critical times of COVID-19.
The Advisor also directed the officials to follow all the safety guidelines regarding COVID-19 and provide hand-wash, sanitizers, masks to the staff deployed at major stations across the Jammu besides following the social distancing in true sense while working.
He called upon the officials to increase their visibility on ground and take proactive initiatives during the pandemic COVID-19 besides having a 24/7 complaint redressal mechanism to address the problems of general public during these critical times.
Advisor Bhatnagar impressed upon the officials to reduce time taken for restoration of supply, close monitoring of complaints received on Helpline numbers, keeping reserve stock of critical components, making workshops functional, improving quality of water supplies and addressing issues of sedimentation. He also delved upon the officers to ensure that tankers are effectively used to fill gaps of increasing drinking water supply demand.
Highlighting the need of extra water supply during peak summer season, the Advisor directed the department to put in place a mechanism by which adequate supply of potable water is provided to the consumers in the areas, which record increase in demand in the summers.
Speaking during the meeting, Commissioner Secretary Jal Shakti Department, Ajeet K Sahu impressed upon the officials to maintain the high quality standard of portable drinking water besides providing uninterrupted water supply to the consumers.
Earlier, a presentation was presented to the Advisor, where complete information regarding the short term as well as long term measures planned by the department were highlighted besides other achievements of the department like increase in distribution system and employing standard safety measures were also underlined.
Besides Commissioner Secretary, Jal Shakti Department, A K Sahu, the meeting was attended by Chief Engineer, PHE and Superintending Engineer, Jammu while as Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, Indu Kanwal Chib and Superintending Engineers/Executive Engineers of various districts of Jammu division participated in the meeting through video conferencing. |
