Early Times Report

RAJOURI, May 5: Range Officer, Department of Forest Deepak Kumar has become a law into himself since he has been able to manipulate things with regard to encroachment of forest land in the Sunderbani area.
The officer has in fact compiled an incorrect report about the same and forwarded the same to Chief Conservator of Forests. He in the report has said that no encroachment has taken place in the Sunderbani area. This is despite the fact that boundary pillars are missing at many places along the forest land.
Sources told Early Times that due to the pro-active approach of former Range Officer encroached forest land was retrieved. However, all the good work done by the officer has gone waste since the incumbent Range Officer is hand in glove with encroachers of the forest land in the district especially Sunderbani area.
“In the village Makol some of the people have constructed their houses on the forest land and there are many others who have constructed ponds over the same. Although, the matter was brought into the notice of DFO Nowshehra and Range Officer no action whatsoever was taken,” said sources.
Following this the aggrieved approached the office of CCF Jammu who asked the Range Officer and DFO Nowshera to visit the place and file the report. Although, the officers visited the spot they complied a factually incorrect report that no encroachment has taken place.
When Early Times contacted the Range Officer he refused to talk while as Block Officer Rajinder Kumar said that he would take up the matter only when the Range Officer asks him to do so. CCF Jammu, Ramesh Kumar said that action would be taken in the case and that nobody would be spared if it comes out than an incorrect report has been submitted to his office.
