Misusing Social Media

Early Times Report

Jammu, May 5: Authorities on Tuesday suspended a patwari Halqa Muttal, Parvez Ahmed, for allegedly using foul language against the Indian Army besides other derogatory remarks on social media.
Parvez Ahmed, a government employee, who proudly wrote on his Facebook profile that he is a patwari was instigating people to indulge in a propaganda against the Indian Army. “Yr aye din Kashmiriyon ko marte hain Indian Army unke bare mein bhi koi rai diya karo,” patwari Parvez Ahmed had written on his Facebook page.
Parvez Ahmed was confronted by another facebook user, one Nabeel Ahmed Wani, who told him to mind his language and described him as a shame on people of J&K.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, “It was unacceptable that the government employee was indulging in a propaganda against the Army and the security forces.”
He said, “It seemed he had no fear of law and was misusing the social media for spreading hate against the country. This trend was started by bureaucrat turned politician, Shah Faesal, who despite being in the government service wrote against the administration and State. Today he is languishing in detention. People like Parvez Ahmed should also meet the same fate as they don’t deserve any concessions.”
It’s in place to mention here that the government has banned its employees from using social media to discuss the issues related to government, politics and the security forces.
“It’s strange that Cyber Cell of J&K Police which claims to be one of the most active wings of the police ignores such posts and allows these government employees to indulge in a vicious propaganda,” said an observer.
He said that such employees should be sacked and legal proceedings need to be initiated against them. “The government employees cannot cross the line. If they want to play politics and indulge in anti-national propaganda, they should leave their jobs and do something else. It’s unfortunate when you see a responsible Revenue officer trying to polarize the environment by spreading communal hatred. Such people need to be booked and put behind the bars,” he added.
Taking the cognizance of the activities of the erring patwari Senior Superintendent of Police Udhampur furnished an interrogation report in this matter.
Against the back drop of above Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Dr Piyush Singla placed the said patwari under suspension with immediate effect.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Udhampur has been appointed as an inquiry officer to conduct in depth enquiry into the matter and furnish a detail report within a period of fortnight to Deputy Commissioner Udhampur.
