Govt fails to release wages of daily consultants, monthly perks not fixed yet
Most of the temporary employees have crossed age limit

SRINAGAR, May 19: Most of the daily wage consultants and other temporary employees in various departments and especially in the ULBK have alleged that they have been suffering from mental stress and their demands have not been fulfilled yet.
According to sources that, during the present lockdown, the daily wagers are the real heroes who have worked in containing the spread of coronavirus, they have not only put their lives at risk by sanitizing the specified areas, but took other preventive measures for the welfare of the general public.
Trade union leader and vice president Urban Local Bodies Employees United Forum (ULBKEUF) Manzoor Ahmad Pampuri told Early Times that, he appeals the lieutenant governor and senior officials of the municipal department to pay the suspended wages of all temporary employees before Eid.
He said that the performance of these employees in this critical time is commendable and in return for their hard work they should be given justice and given their rights, the right to equality.
He stressed that these employees have worked hard and most of them have crossed the age limit, and there are many employees whose children have become adults and all of them have become frustrated while waiting for the future, hence they demand from the government to fulfill their genuine demands.
For their better future and for the bright future of their children, their problems should be solved and the process of permanence should be started by giving them equal rights and keeping in view today's inflation, a monthly wage of Rs. 18000 should be fixed, said Pampouri.
The relief package should also be announced in favor of these employees keeping in view the present critical period. Most of the employees who have been working on low wages for years have reached the prescribed age limit.
Meanwhile, Zahoor Ahmed, president of Urban Local Bodies Daily Wages Consultant and Sanitation Workers Forum, said that the wages should be paid before Eid.
He also appealed to the present government and senior officials of the municipality and all the executive officers to waive the salaries of all the employees before Eid and provide equal rights and take serious notice of all the issues and resolve them at the earliest opportunity.
