EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, June 18: Former Minister and President District Congress Committee (DCC) Kathua Dr Manohar Lal Sharma while conducting 2-day long tour of Billawar Assembly constituency visited different villages including Agli Dhar, Nallan Sialana, Dhed, Kandarnu and Malti.
A large number of people of these villages met and apprised Dr Sharma of various problems being faced by them. Dr Sharma said the major problem being faced is of water and unscheduled power cuts. He said majority of water pumps are damaged and no repair work has been done. He said that administration should make sure that people get uninterrupted water and power supply in this summer season. Also talking about bad conditions of road Dr Sharma said Sialana-Agli Dhar, Dramni-Arnote, Chingi Makwal, Bhaddu, Billawar- Katli (1st portion) of roads are in worse condition and is making movement of people very difficult.
People also complained about their names getting struck of the BPL ration lists and also non-availability of free ration to them. Dr Sharma assured people that he will talk to the concerned department for early redressal of the issues. While talking on the issue of killing of Sarpanch Ajay Bharti, Dr Sharma said that had Ajay Bharti would have been given security this incident should haven’t happened. He said Ajay Bharti was demanding for security cover since long but administration didn’t pay heed to his genuine demand resulting into militant attack on him which led to loss of his life. He demanded that government should provide security cover to all the Sarpanchs in critical areas as they are also elected public representatives and are risking their lives for the welfare of the public.
