Early Times Report

JAMMU, June 18: At a time when gathering of people is being avoided to prevent spread of corona virus, the ARTO Udhampur has started routine works risking lives of the visitors. The ARTO Udhampur, today conducted driving tests while inspection of vehicles is also going on with full swing.
“Nobody want to get infected of corona virus, but since the ARTO office is functioning, we are forced to attend it to avoid any kind of harassment from the staff”, a visitor told Early Times and added that if one skips this office call he/she has to suffer in future. However, the union govt has extended validity of all the documents pertaining to transport department, to prevent spread of corona virus. “Unfortunately, same is not being followed here”, said another forced visitor. “Other ARTOs of J&K have not started work yet, but in case of Udhampur the haste is very strange”, he added. Repeated attempts to contact DC Udhampur proved futile. Meanwhile, when contacted ARTO Udhampur said the works have resumed and guidelines are properly being followed. “Proper sanitation of visitors to this office is being carried out”, the ARTO said.
