Early Times Report

Jammu, July 17: Amid surge in Corona cases during the last one week, district administration is now awaked from deep slumber and has made COVID-19 sampling and testing compulsory for all road travellers in Jammu.
During the last few days, there are widespread complaints that people coming from outside Jammu division are entering Jammu district without any checking or testing. There was no checking on the nakas set-up by the authorities on the borders of Jammu district.
This evening, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Sarita Chouhan issued an order in which it was mentioned that the air and train passengers are being sampled immediately on their arrival at the Jammu Airport and Jammu Tawi Railway Station respectively.
“Whereas the road travelers are sampled at Government Medical College, Jammu, Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, and through mobile sampling Van, if they have travelled from any location outside the Jammu province”, the order reads, adding, “road travelers arriving from outside Jammu division are required to get themselves registered at the checkpoints set up at Ban Toll Plaza and Purmandal Morh, for their registration before entering the district”.
“It has been reported that many road travelers arriving from outside the Jammu division are skipping the registration and mandatory sampling, testing and administrative quarantine process”, the order mentioned.
The Deputy Commissioner made it clear that all road travelers shall get themselves registered at the above mentioned checkpoints and make themselves available at the appointed time and location for sampling and testing, without mingling with any other person. Any violation of the above directions shall result in registration of FIR u/s 188 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and initiation of punitive action under section 51 of National Disaster Management Act, 2005, which provides for imprisonment of one year, or fine or both.
