EarlyTime Report

Samba, July 21: 4G mobile internet services are closed in Jammu and Kashmir on one side and claims are being made by government and private companies across the state to provide high speed internet to people by laying a network of fiber wires and on the other side in Samba.
The BSNL fiber service is running in extremely bad condition. Local residents Joginder Singh, Rahul Kumar, Gunjan Singh, Ashish Kumar, Satpal Singh, Pradeep Kumar and Monu Sambayal etc say that after the closure of Mobile Internet, BSNL has spread fiber cables in Samba to provide high speed internet service to the people. For which they was paying a monthly bill of Rs. 1000 per month, but the claim of giving 100 Mbps speed is proving to be in the air and they are getting only 1 Mbps speed. These people say that BSNL’s fiber service comes to a standstill and even if it is running, then it is also at 2G speed due to which people are not getting the benefit of high speed internet service. Locals alleged that if there is any complaint related to BSNL fiber in Samba, no officer or representative is available to resolve it and no hearing is done. Consumers alleged that now a private company has started installing its fiber cable in Samba, due to which the speed has been reduced in collusion with BSNL officials so that the private company can be benefited.
BSNL consumers have urged the Union Ministry of Communications that despite spending 1 thousand per month middle class families in Jammu and Kashmir are not getting high speed internet facility, which needs to be investigated and appropriate action taken. People have demanded from the state administration and the central government that appropriate steps should be taken to provide better facilities to the people by improving the functioning of the BSNL department
