Early Times Report

POONCH, July 25: The media fraternity of Poonch accused the District Administration Poonch of deliberately debarring media to meet with Lieutenant Governor GC Murmu during his visit here today. They alleged that the administration took this move as it was afraid of being exposed during interaction with the media.
Although deputations of local leaders, politicians, social workers were allowed to meet with LG by District Administration but media was conspicuously kept out, which created strong resentment among the media persons.
“Lieutenant Governor reached Poonch around 10:30 am and programme was held at Dak Bungalow Poonch, where LG met with various deputations but when media tried to meet the LG, the security officers stopped them saying that media is not allowed as per directions of Deputy Commissioner Poonch,” media persons said. They further said that DC Poonch has deliberately debarred the media to meet LG whereas in other districts, media is given access to meet LG. They said that the district admin was well aware of the fact that the media will highlight the mismanagement and misdeeds of the administration during its interaction that’s why they were not allowed.
They strongly condemned the administration and demanded inquiry into the matter. “There were several issues of media related which have to be discussed with LG including Press Club Poonch,” they informed.
When media person contacted DC Poonch Rahul Yadav, he said that due to COVID-19 their interaction was not held. But the fact of the matter is that several deputations were allowed to meet with LG.
Only those deputations were given access, who praised the administration of their work across the district.
They appealed to LG to take note of the bias attitude of the Poonch administration and requested him to provide them time to meet with him so that they could put forth their issues.
