| Jammu artists dupe Surankote quarantine, doing film shooting in concealed locations | | Throwing COVID 19 pandemic to winds | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 25: In a bizarre and negligent act, Jammu administration has failed to reign in illegal activities being conducted by some local film makers who are risking lives of the people as well as the artists during the surge of COVID Pandemic in the UT.
One such incidence has been reported from Surankote where a team of local Jammu actors , males and females were asked by a local Surankote filmmaker named Shahid Kazmi on July 22 to reach the district for film shooting .
Getting information, Sub Divisional Magistrate Surankote Jameel Qureshi engaged his officials to stop the convoy on border as three people including an assistant director and camera man in one vehicle were taken into quarantine while five to six people including women and men in other vehicles escaped the nakka and entered Surankote duping the authorities.
Confirming, SDM Surankot said that he is enquiring from the people in quarantine about other people having come from Jammu and escaped into Surankote .
“We have directed the officials to check every nook and corner to find out hideout of the Jammu artists who have come to Surankot without informing authorities and sooner they are found , they will be put under quarantine ,” said Jameel Qureshi.
DC Poonch Rahul Yadav when contacted expressed ignorance over such activity being done in concealed locations, but assured that he will take cognizance of the issue.
However Jameel Quershi further added that since he is taking holistic view of the activities in Surankot over the COVID pandemic, any illegal activity of film shooting brought into notice will be taken up immediately.
“We are looking out for other Jammu artists and the location they are shooting at. If found indulged all will be rounded up under National Disaster Act and will be arrested,” said Jameel Quershi , SDM Surankote. |
