Godhar Khalsa residents accuse former BJP MLA of betrayal
Demand of road construction during elections remained unfulfilled

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, July 25: The residents of Ward No 10 of Godhar Khalsa in Panchayat Bhambla of Tehsil Pouni, District Reasi have accused the former BJP MLA Reasi of betrayal as his promise to construction of a road in their area remained unfulfilled.
It has been years since the residents have been still waiting for construction of the road. During these rainy days, the road has turned into a muddy road making it unfit for vehicular movement. “We have been facing huge problems due to bad road condition and it has been our prime demand with the concerned MLA Ajay Nanda of BJP during elections and he had promised that their demand will be fulfilled once he wins the elections but it has been so many years, the problem of this ward could not be solved,” they alleged.
They further said that there are around hundred families, which reside in Ward No. 10 and connected with a Kachi road having length of 2 kms and during the election campaign, former MLA had promised to construct a road but despite winning the elections and later he became minister yet the demand remained unfulfilled.
Residents said that they had approached the MLA for road construction after his win and PWD had conducted a survey but the issue remained stuck due to unknown reasons.
The residents informed that they had spent money from their own pocket as contribution for laying down the concrete and pables to make it worth for pedestrians but due to rains it was washed away.
“The office of PWD (R&B) Division Reasi had made a Detailed Project Report of the road with estimated cost of Rs 2 crore under NABARD and sent it to the office of Superintending Engineer for approval in 2018. Moreover all other requisite reports like Technical Report, Abstract of Cost and financial implications for further necessary action were also sent,” they informed further adding that it has been more than two years but no further development was seen in this connection which can be well observed from the fact that no work of road has been started on the ground and people have been feeling betrayed. They alleged that the concerned Sarpanch is also least bothered to take up the matter with higher authority.
