GDC Udhampur organizes national webinar

Jammu, July 25: The department of Zoology, Government College for Women Udhampur organized one day national webinar on “Probiotics : A Friendly Bacteria. ”
The session was initiated by Prof. Brinder Kumar, HOD Zoology, followed by the formal welcome address by Worthy Principal, Prof. Minu Mahajan. Wherein, she introduced the topic and underlined the relevance of the same, saying that the topic has become a burning issue in our lives ever since we have shifted from traditional food habits; when we used enough probiotics from different dairy products.
Resource person of the day was D. Satish Kumar, Head Department of Microbiology, Indira Gandhi College of Arts and Science, Kathirkammam, Puducherry, India. In his detailed discussion on Probiotics, he mentioned that we need to minimise the consumption of spicy and oily food. Whereas, the intake of food rich in friendly bacteria is a must for healthy metabolism which is in turn beneficial to avoid gastric disorders and hypertension. More than 60 participants from different states were benefitted by the contents of the webinar. After the lecture the question-answer session was moderated by Prof Sumita Rao. At the culmination of the event Prof. Sanjay Kumar, Staff Secretary of the college proposed the formal vote of thanks.
