Following surge in COVID-19 cases Kishtwar admin orders closure of busy markets for 3 days

Jammu Sep 13: After ordering closure of main market along the National Highway from Post Office Malipath to HSS Boys Kishtwar including Malik Market following the reporting of 10 COVID Positive cases during random sampling at Bus Stand Kishtwar yesterday, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara in a late night order include more areas in the list. As per the details available with Early Times, DC Kishtwar ordered for closure of Gudhali Chowk market along with Amar Market, Chinar Gali Market, Dar Market, Jamia Masjid Market for next three days following surge in COVID-19 cases reported from the area.
On the instructions of DC Kishtwar, health department has begun random sampling at various busy markets of Kishtwar town and during today's random sampling five COVID-19 positive cases were reported from Gudhali Chowk and its peripheral area following which Chief Medical Officer Kishtwar recommended for closure of the market next three days so that necessary sanitization, fumigation and other steps could be taken to disinfect the market areas.
Meanwhile sources informed Early Times that a big fatty wedding that took place in Kishtwar town in which around 800 to 1000 guests participated has become the major source of spread of virus and as per the official sources, around 50-60 COVID positive cases reported in Kishtwar in last few days are directly or indirectly link to the said wedding function.
