EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Sept 13: Four months after his formal retirement from government services, one Administrative Officer at SK Institute of Medical Sciences SKIMS Soura continues to be in the office and is holding multiple charges at the same hospital in Srinagar.
Official documents as accessed by the Early Times show that the said person had been holding the charges of Administrative Officer for Academics and also as the Assistant Controller Examinations.
Sources said the said person was enjoying "good equation" with a senior official at the SKIMS and thus was verbally asked to continue to hold multiple charges even after retirement from services to "meet mutual interests."
Sources said the said person has been formally signing official documents for all the portfolios he presently holds. Sources said he even signed official documents after the Independence Day celebrations.
Sources said he has been playing key role in holding of exams for the prestigious institute in violation of the norms.
Sources said the many of the decisions taken by the official with regard to examination are controversial and can lead to a probe into the state of affairs at the SKIMS.
It was reliably learnt that the presence of the retired official and his holding numerous portfolios has left the doctors fuming even as they have decided to knock the doors of the Raj Bhawan and Union Health Ministry to seek probe into the matter.
A delegation of doctors told Early Times that the said retired official doesn't listen to their pleas. "He has been working arrogantly saying I am powerful enough to work even after the retirement from services," the doctors said.
Doctors said the presence of a retired official in the administration has left the "hospital administration fragile before the Union Health Ministry."
A senior official at the SKIMS, however, downplayed the matter. "There was a confusion over the extension of his services and he is being relieved," said official said on the condition of anonymity.
