Baap-Beta's Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa frustrates NC
Party call high level meeting to 'clear the air' or face resignations
9/14/2020 12:54:49 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Sept 13: With former Chief Minister and National Conference President Omar Abdullah having stayed away from meetings concerned to the so called Gupkar Declaration, he has even distanced himself from the stand of his father and predecessor Dr Farooq Abdullah on the issue.
While Dr Abdullah says the party would "fight for the restoration" of the so called special status of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar has said he would not demand any such thing from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Amid contradicting stands of father-son duo on the policy matters, the party leaders are feeling "frustrated" and some of them have threatened to resign should the NC fail to clarify its stand. "Father is talking one language and the son is talking the other language. Actually they are not only befooling the people but are also frustrating us as well," said a senior NC leader on the condition of anonymity.
Sources said the NC leaders have decided to call on the party patron Dr Farooq Abdullah to seek holding of a high level meeting.
Sources said the NC leaders want both Dr Abdullah and his son to attend the meeting.
Sources said the meeting was likely to be held in the coming days at the Gupkar residence of Dr Abdullah.
To mention Early Times had already reported that the Omar Abdullah had distanced himself from the so called Gupkar Declaration by staying away from the meeting.
This newspaper was the only one to report that Omar had stayed away from attending both the meetings linked to Gupkar declaration which were chaired by his father.
When contacted a senior NC leader said there was no confusion over the statements issued by the Abdullahs but that meeting was to be held for some other issues and to decide future course of action.
"Holding party meetings are a regular affair of our party," said the leader on the condition of anonymity.
