EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Sept 13: Finally, after years of allegations of mis-governance mainly at the hands of the dynasts, Jammu and Kashmir seems to be headed towards the era of good governance as the recently appointed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is setting new standards of work culture putting the official machinery on toes and giving respite to the people, alike.
For Sinha, from threat of Covid19 to terror attacks in militancy infested J&K, nothing stops him from doing peoples work on priority.
Barely hours after taking oath as the second Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Sinha visited the SMHS Hospital in Srinagar, where the Covid19 patients are treated.
"SMHS Hospital is seen as a Covid hotspot and thus even senior officials would refrain from visiting the place lest they catch infection but now it's for the first time since lockdown was imposed that such a big dignitary has personally visited any hospital," hailed a doctor.
Among his next priorities was visiting the frontier district of Baramulla. Even though a major terror strike, which lasted 36 hours had just concluded in Baramulla, Sinha visited the same district to review developmental activities. He has even visited militancy hotspot of Pulwama.
Besides Kashmir, he is equally active in Jammu. Soon after assuming charge, the Bharatiya Janta Party stalwart from Uttar Pradesh, started his public outreach in Jammu from remote areas like Katra.
The LG has equally been setting deadlines for projects which had been languishing for decades.
Sources said the surprise visits of the LG, who is M Tech by qualification, have put the administration on toes. "Apart from surprise visits he also personally calls concerned officials to get update about various issues," said a source privy to the Raj Bhawan.
Sources said various officials have been ensuring attendance at their offices since the day Sinha paid a surprise visit to the Civil Secretariat.
Observers said interestingly since the day Sinha took over, even Advisors seem to be "working overtime." "There have been instances where on Advisor visited more than one district in a day for public outreach," said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
It was reliably learnt that Sinha has a simple message for the administration -To deliver good governance through transparency!
