Early Times Report

JAMMU, Sept 18: Expressing serious concern over rising of dengue and COVID-19 cases in Jammu, Convenor, United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Jammu and Kashmir, Rajiv Mahajan blamed government agencies for negligence and demanded that urgent steps be taken to ensure regular fogging and spraying of bleaching and lime powder as well as speeding up of the cleanliness drive in the Jammu city.
In a statement issued on Friday, Rajiv Mahajan urged the Jammu Municipal Corporation to take immediate steps to prevent dengue, viral fever and other infectious diseases.
“The government agencies are not serious about fogging and spraying. Even the waste and garbage after the water receded has not been removed from many places,” he alleged. He said neither regular fogging nor spraying of bleaching and lime powder was taking place.
With schools in Jammu and Kashmir preparing for students to return to classrooms from September 21, He said reopening schools at a time when COVID-19 cases are surging could worsen the crisis.
“Reopening schools while Covid is still circulating widely could accelerate virus transmission in the community,” he said and appealed to LG Manoj Sinha to revoke the decision of re-opening of school to save the students during corona pandemic.
The signatories to the statement included Manish Sahni Former Convener, Lt Gen. (Retd.) Pradeep Singh Mehta Principal Advisor, IG (Retd.) Sudhir Dogra General Secretary, Co- Conveners Col. (Retd.)
