Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 27: Decision of the BJP’s disciplinary committee to serve show-cause notice to party leader Wasim Kohli has authenticated a report of the Early Times that a former minister was under scanner for ensuring defeat of party candidates in District Development Councils (DDCs) elections in Rajouri district.
The Early Times in its December 27 edition had reported that internal sabotage within BJP gradually came to the fore as defeated party candidates had exposed those who worked against official nominees.
A BJP leader shifted all blames on former minister and ex-MLA from Kalakote Abdul Gani Kohli for defeat of party candidates on three seats of Rajouri district.
A month after BJP leader shifted blames on former minister for party’s defeat, BJP disciplinary committee on Wednesday issued a show-cause notice to party activist Wasim Kohli for anti-party activities during the DDCs elections in Rajouri district.
Chairman of the panel Sunil Sethi served the notice to Kohli, who is the BJP leader from Kalakote, based upon the complaints by local BJP leaders regarding anti-party activities in his assembly constituency. The leaders alleged that Kohli supported candidates from other parties and hence the party’s disciplinary committee served the notice to Kohli, Sethi said. In the notice, Kohli has been given seven days’ time to clarify his stand before the party, he added.
Sethi said that the disciplinary committee received a complaint against Kohli about gross indiscipline in the recently concluded DDCs elections, along with an audio clip allegedly containing his confession of indiscipline and of helping other candidates win elections, besides not supporting official party candidates. “You (Kohli) are directed to submit your reply to the above allegations and complaint within 7 days positively to the disciplinary committee, either online or physically in party headquarters. In case of no reply within the period mentioned above, it will be taken that you have accepted the allegations to be true,” Sethi said.
