AIMCCC demands shifting of proposed COVID Control Centre from Jagti township

JAMMU, Apr 25: All India Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AIMCCC) in a meeting at Jagti township discussed the present situation of COVID pandemic. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of AIMCCC president, Desh Rattan Pandita. The members felt that the administration has not made advance preparations/measures to prevent this pandemic. As a result, the people are facing the worst possible consequences of health issues. They said that no responsible administration can be spared of this irresponsible attitude. Same is the position with the whole nation, adding that the preventive steps could have been taken before its spread. JK UT is also in the serious grip of pandemic and people are helpless. Referring to administration’s decision to establish a COVID Control Centre at SDH Jagti township, the members said that establishment of centre is a good step in the interest of people but it should always be in an open area, far from residential colonies. Jagti township is a densely populated colony and establishing of Covid Control Centre here is of high risk for camp dwellers of Jagti colony, they added. They appealed to the administration to explore possibilities of some other alternative so that the Jagti residents are saved. Among others who attended the meeting included Manmohan Kanth secretary, J L Raina Asstt secretary, R K Koul cashier, M L Booni Accountant, Vinoo Misri media, Kamal Koul senior leader, Priya Dhar senior leader Mahila Wing, Anjli Kar senior leader Mahila Wing and others.
