The officials also held a march in different areas of Kishtwar town to ensure that the curfew gets implemented on ground.
Following the announcement of the government to implement weekend lockdown to ensure the break in chain of virus spread, people in Kishtwar District also fully adhered to the order issued by the State Disaster Management and preferred to stay inside homes as a result of which the markets in Kishtwar District wore a deserted look today.
Only a few people were seen walking on the main road with the thin presence of police and other security forces.
“People understand the gravity of the situation and understand that the decision of implementing corona curfew is necessary,” said a police official, adding that people are cooperating. It will be an easy task for us to concentrate on other important works besides will also protect the security and police personnel from fatigue as there is hardly any need to exhibit thick presence on ground to implement the orders.
The officials said that they are hopeful that people will continue to cooperate in a similar way the way they cooperated today.
Meanwhile, DC Kishtwar, Ashok Kumar Sharma told the Early Times that already fixed marriage functions and other religious functions like Mundan and Yatras will be allowed as per the protocol, adding that marriage cards will be treated as curfew passes. He said that front line works and medical shops will be allowed to function during the lockdown.
