Students failed by internal evaluator get 50% marks in external evaluation
JU’s discriminatory approach

Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 25: Students of a postgraduate course of University of Jammu who had failed in internal evaluation have secured 50 percent or above marks in the evaluation done by an external evaluator.
A group of students who went through the ordeal informed Early Times that had they not dared the biased and anti-students approaches of a concerned teacher, they might have lost a precious year and valuable time of their life.
“At least two dozen students got even below 30 percent marks in a post graduation course after evaluation of their marks sheets done by an internal evaluator. We smelled something fishy in the evaluation process but could not speak against the teacher who deliberately failed us”, students said, adding that but later all of them decided to fight against the unjustified evaluation.
“We approached the Vice-Chancellor secretariat and after our strenuous efforts, the V-C office intervened and our marksheets were re-revaluated by an external evaluator. Surprisingly, all of us got 50 percent and above marks”, said another student, adding that their genuine demand for revaluation was being seen as a kind of ‘coup’ against the authority of teachers, who are supposed to provide knowledge and instruction to students while helping them to develop their personalities and skills.
“It is a very tradition in this campus that you (students) cannot speak against injustice done on you by teachers. But it is the right time to bring transparency, accountability and answerability to prevent any intentional harm to a student’s career. The teachers should also remember that they are appointed for student’s betterment and not to satisfy their ego,” they said.
They also said that the entire episode has been brought into the notice of the Chancellor's (Lt. Governor) through documentary evidence for action against the erring teacher, who seems hell bent to ruin students’ career just to satisfy his ego.
“The concerned teacher has remained the centre of many controversies in JU and was asked to step down from an administrative position over seniority issues after the Raj Bhawan’s intervention”, they said.
