DM issues revised scheduled for opening of markets in Jammu

Jammu, Apr 25: District Magistrate Jammu, Anshul Garg on Sunday issued a revised schedule for opening of markets in Jammu district.
The DM in an order said: “In supersession of previous orders, vide powers conferred upon him under section 34 of Disaster Management Act, 2005 do hereby order that the different markets falling in Limits of Jammu Municipal Corporation and Urban Local Bodies of District Jammu shall open as per the schedule given below.” In the Group-I, the shops dealing with clothes, readymade garments, home furnishing items, shoes and chappal stores, boutiques, tailor shops, hair saloons, cosmetic shops, jewelery shops and showrooms, hardware, cement & building material stores, sanitary goods stores, glass houses, shuttering materials, mobile shops, electrical appliances shops, and watch & electric repairs shops, cycle shops, IT & computer shops, automobile showrooms, service stations and welding shops would remain open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
In the group-II, malls & mega marts, groceries, departmental stores, confectionary shops, gift shops. Shops dealing with multiple items and Pooja related items utensil & crockery stores, toy shops, optical facilities, book and stationary shops, novel stores, typing and printing shops and photostat shops, furniture showrooms and stores gyms and Spas, wine shops that haven’t been covered in Group-I will remain on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
In Group-III all wholesale establishments located at Kanak Mandi, Warehouse, Super Bazar and Paharian Mohalla or any other location to be notified separately later. Beauty Parlours only for pre-booked bridal makeup. Standalone shops outside market areas catering to residential societies/streets be identified by tehsildar concerned by ensuring staggered opening and adherence to COVID SOP would remain open from Monday to Saturday.
The order further stated that all the establishments shall remain closed on Sunday, except those falling in exemption category elaborated in the succeeding para; .
The following categories of shops dealing with essential services and perishable items shall fall under the exemption category (Allowed to Open Daily):- i) Chemist shops, Diagnostic Centres, Medical & Clinical Establishments. ii) Vegetable and fruit Markets, Florists shops. iii) Milk shops, Meat and Chicken Shops, Eateries & Bakeries iv) Street Vendors duly licensed by the Jammu Municipal Corporation. v) Petrol Pumps & LPG Outlets. 8.
These revised restrictions shall come into effect with from 26.04.2021. Besides, the shop owners shall ensure COVID appropriate behaviour in these shops and shall avoid clustering in these establishments, besides adhering to social distancing norms. Any violation of these orders shall evoke action including filing of FIR under relevant provisions of the law.
The order stated that the modifications in the earlier order have been made after receiving a number of suggestions from various stakeholders in the roster to accommodate various trades and standalone.
