MED’s Hospital Division asked to install Oxygen plant within five days

Anantnag, April 25: The administration in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district has asked the engineers of the Mechanical Engineering Department (MED) to complete the installation of an Oxygen generation plant within five days.
Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kulgam, Dr Muzaffer Ahmad Zargar told Early Times that the work on installation of Oxygen generation plant was going on and hopefully will be made functional within five days.
“The work on this 1000 ltr Oxygen generation plant is going on from last year most probably from the month of December and recently Deputy Commissioner Kulgam directed them to complete its installation within five days,” he said.
Dr Muzaffer said that the engineers of Hospital Division of Mechanical Engineering Department (MED) had set May 5th of 2021 as the deadline for the installation of the Oxygen generation plant but now they have paced up the work and we expect that they will complete it within a few days.
The officer said that due to heavy snowfall the department couldn’t continuously work on the project.
Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-din Bhat (IAS) told Early Times that the Mechanical Engineering Department (MED) has been conveyed to complete the project within days. “They are working and they will complete the installation within four days,” he said.
Important to mention here, the Mechanical Engineering Department (MED) had started the installation of Oxygen generation plants in various hospitals of Kashmir last year.
The department has a separate division known as ‘Hospital Division’ for the purpose however it operates from Srinagar. The division has now office in South Kashmir because of which the projects it undertakes in South Kashmir gets delayed.
“Hospital Division has no office in South Kashmir. Even the office of Sub-division South Kashmir is also functioning at Srinagar; this is the main reason for delay,” an official said, however wished not to be named.
The official said that the department has started work at Trauma Hospital Bijbehara a few days back however pace is very slow. “Right now they are constructing a shed. When will they bring machinery and Install it,” he questioned.
Executive Engineer Hospital Division Srinagar, Mubashir Naqasbandi told Early Times that they have completed the installation of 1000 ltrs plants at GMC Anantnag and Shopain district Hospital.
“Tomorrow we are going to test the Oxygen generation plant at Pulwama district Hospital and after that we will commission the Oxygen Plant at Kulgam,” he said, adding the work on Oxygen generation plant at Trauma Hospital Bijbehara has also been paced up.
