AYUSH plays vital role in defeating Covid-19: Sham Sharma

JAMMU, June 11: Former Minister and State Vice President BJP Sham Lal Sharma today highlighted the benefits of Ayurveda in building immunity and urged people to "have a look" at AYUSH Ministry's initiatives to stay fit amidst COVID-19 pandemic, saying 'Good Health is the harbinger of happiness'. He recommended everyone to adopt herbal medicines and enhance their body immunity as a part of a proactive measure to fight Coronavirus.
The former minister was speaking at the Ayush Medical camps held at village Bhalwal Bharat and Gurha Manhasa, Tehsil Pargwal of Khour Constituency here today. These camps were held with the support of the Ayush department.
Vice Chairman DDC Jammu Suraj Singh, ex-MLA Krishan Lal, District President Jagdish Bhagat, BDC Chairperson Nisha Kumari, Sarpanchs Polli Devi, Swarn Kanta Manhas, Yash Pal Singh and Block President Balinder Singh were present on the occasion.
During the medical camp, residents of these areas were examined and a total of 500 medical kits containing packs of 5 medicines each were distributed among them with an aim to boost the immunity and as a preventive measure against COVID-19.
The former minister also briefed the inhabitants and party workers about AYUSH systems in health promotion and disease prevention.
He emphasized the impact and instrumental role of Ayurveda in daily lives of human beings ever since it has evolved.
He also pointed out that the World Health Organization has also announced the setting up of the Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in India.
Sharma said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to everyone to boost immunity by following the guidelines laid by the Ministry of AYUSH. He said that people should take care of their elders and kids by maintaining social distancing, wearing masks and boosting their immunity as per guidelines framed by AYUSH which plays a vital role in maintaining optimum health and for defeating Covid-19.
