BJP shamelessly accusing common masses for power crisis: Harsh
JKNPP torches effigy of govt over power, water crisis
6/11/2021 11:56:28 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 11: Agitated over the acute power and water crisis faced by Jammu region during the times of soaring mercury levels, the activists of NPP led by Harsh Dev Singh chairman-JKNPP torched the effigy of BJP govt amid raising of anti-govt slogans. The protesters raised slogans of “Ghar Ghar Ki Yahi Kahani, Na Bijli, Na Paani”, “Bijli, Panni De Na Sakey Jo, Who Sarkaar Hatani Hai”, “BJP Sarkaar Istifa Do” and so on.
Speaking on the occasion, Harsh Dev Singh lambasted the govt for accusing the general masses for power crisis in the name of power theft. The govt. can’t absolve itself from the responsibility of ensuring un-interrupted supply of basic amenities merely by deflecting the blame upon the public at large. And it’s not the common man who is involved in power theft, mind you. It’s the big, moneyed, powerful and influential people who are using more power by abusing their position and authority. And it’s the unholy nexus between unscrupulous officers and corrupt politicians who are involved in theft of power, water and other resources needed by the society”, asserted Singh.
Pointing towards the illegal encroachment of govt and other estates mansions including the Ministerial bungalows by BJP leaders, Singh said that no charges were being paid by these corrupt politicians as was being reportedly reported in the media. Some corrupt and more-loyal-than-the-king brand officers were giving them all protection while allowing them to make free use of such facilities at the cost of the common man.
“Most pathetic was the condition of the rural masses who were being served hefty power bills without even providing them power. There were several complaints where in water supply to villages was being decided on the basis of their political affiliations, said Singh. He divulged that several BJP leaders and households in Ramnagar constituency owing allegiance to BJP were provided one inch and 1¼ inch dia pipes for water supply while leaving their entire mohallas dry but the authorities concerned had failed to act despite complaints. Likewise, there were reports of some SC people assaulted and deprived of water supply leading to massive resentment in affected areas.
Cautioning the govt to stop discriminating between people on the basis of political affiliations and caste and colour considerations, Mr. Singh said that Panthers Party would continue to agitate till provision of basic amenities to the poor and deprived classes was ensured by the authorities concerned.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Rajesh Padgotra, Gagan Pratap Singh, Surinder Chouhan, Khajoor Singh, Rashpaul Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Raman Bali, Satpaul Singh, Ajay Singh besides others.
