| GDC Bishnah organizes cleanliness drive | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 28: As part of the 7-day Special Winter Camp under Clean India Bharat, the NSS unit of GDC Bishnah in collaboration of Panchayat Chak Avatara and MC Bishnah organized a cleanliness drive to clean a pond at village Bhatyari.
The NSS volunteers cleaned the surroundings area of the pond and also picked the solid waste from inside the pond. The volunteers then went for a door to door awareness campaign in the Bhatiyari village to keep the pond clean by not throwing the waste into it. The waste so collected was lifted by the Municipal Committee Bishnah for its suitable disposal.
Surjit Singh, Sarpanch of Panchayat Bhatyari appreciated the efforts of the NSS volunteers and exhorted them to focus on effecting the behavior change in the people for keeping the surroundings neat and clean. Later volunteers also visited the village Chak Avatara to chalk out the plan to clean the pond located there. They also organized a Swachhata Rally at village Chak Avatara. The NSS volunteers also continued their Swachhata Drive of the Ranbir Irrigation Canal to create the portion of the canal in front of the College Gate as a model of Cleanliness for the shopkeepers and residents of Bishnah Town. The NSS Officer, Prof Amit Kumar Sharma accompanied the volunteers and appreciated the zeal and commitment of the volunteers for Swachhata. |
