DODA, Dec 28: Safai Karamcharis and other casual/daily basis labourers from seven municipalities including Banihal, Ramban, Batote, Doda, Bhaderwah, Thathri and Kishtwar went on indefinite “Kaam Choro Strike” from today. The Safai Karamcharis gave a seven-day ultimatum to the government to fulfill their demands, and now they started their indefinite Kaam Choro strike. They are demanding regularization, the implementation of the Minimum Wage Act (salary as per UT rate) and a pension after retirement. Speaking to Early Times, Vice President of Chenab Valley Safai Karamcharis Union, Shokat Hussain said, “Our job is a kind of job that can’t be done by other labourers. In the time of the corona virus, we have maintained sanitation in every municipality, but what is done by the government for us is false promises only.” |
