TRC Chatroo gutted in devastated fire incident, suffered losses to tune of Rs. 3 crore | | | Asif Iqbal Naik

Kishtwar, Dec 28: In a tragic fire incident, the Tourist Reception Center (TRC) Chatroo building was today reduce to ashes after it caught fire late Tuesday evening. As per the details available with Early Times, the fire broke out in the prestigious tourist asset at around 7.30 PM which engulfed the whole double story building within no time. As soon as the people saw flames coming out of the building, they immediately raise the alarm and rush to the spot along with local army unit and police and started rescue operation, but before anything could be done, the building worth around 3 Cr reduce to ashes resulted into wide spread anger among the people. The building is said to be illegally occupied by the UP based NHIDCL contractor engaged in construction of Kishtwar-Chatroo-Khanbal-Srinagar National Highway and people held the contractor responsible for the losses. The people told the Early Times that their is no electricity in the area at the time of the incident added that the contractor and his officials should be held responsible for the losses. Former MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori also express his grief and shock over the tragic fire incident added that the contractor and the NHDICL should reconstruct the whole building and demanded action against them. Saroori was instrumental in making TRC Chatroo a reality by vigorously following the project that flip to the tourism sector in the area as TRC Chatroo with huge swimming pool by its side attract thousands of local tourist during peak summer days. Local NC leader Jaffer Wani said that FIR should be registered against the NHIDCL contractor and demanded high level probe into the circumstances that led to this tragic fire incident. With the fresh fire incident, the demand for establishment of fire service station at Tehsil level in Kishtwar District spread on more than 7500 Sq miles once again grows louder. DDC Chairperson, VC Kishtwar, BDCs, DDCs and others had time to time raise the issue at various forums including at government level demanding establishment of fire service stations at Chatroo, Mughalmaidan, Padder, Marwah, Warwan, Dachhan, Nagsini, Drabshallla and Bhunjwah, but despite repeated requests; nothing was done to address this genuine issue. When contacted SHO Chatroo Parvaiz Khanday inform that FIR has been registered in the instant case and inquiry has been initiated. Senior officials of the District administration also rush to the spot to take the stock of losses suffered due tragic fire incident. |
