PMAY failure due to official apathy: Tony
1/11/2022 11:26:11 PM
Early Times Report
SUCHETGARH, Jan 11: District Development Council (DDC) member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony has raised serious concern over the alleged failure of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) scheme in the border village Suchetgarh. In a statement issued here today, the DDC Member accused the government of creating multiple obstacles in implementation of this scheme by neither providing funds under PMAY nor allowing the DDC members to make alternative arrangements for the same.
Citing a specific case of injustice, Tony said that he had sanctioned funds under PMAY about a year ago but till date the case of the needy Rashpal Singh, resident of Village Sai Kalan of Block Suchetgarh continues to be in lurch. He levelled serious allegation against the Engineering wing of Rural Development Department saying that they are deliberately creating problems by seeking graft money for approving the aforesaid case.
Tony alleged that the Bill of Rashpal Singh was withheld by I.P Singh, Junior Engineer of RDD at the Treasury despite clearance of all required formalities. He said that as per him (Rashpal Singh) I.P Singh demanded money for clearing his case failing which the due money remains unpaid till date.
The DDC member appealed to the Commissioner Secretary of the concerned Department to weed out corrupt officials from RDD and put them in deadwood for resorting to blatant corrupt practices.
Meanwhile, the DDC member also appealed to the government to immediately announce relief package for the people whose residential houses were damaged during the incessant rains in several parts of the Jammu and Kashmir.
Tony said that there are several residential houses in Boli Chak, Sai Kalan and Village Kolyan of Suchetgarh where people have faced immense losses due to the recent rains and they deserve to be provided succour through appropriate relief package announced by the government.
