Early Times Report

Poonch, Jan 11: Despite improvement in weather conditions, many areas in Poonch district are still reeling under darkness as the Power Department has failed to restore the electricity.
Residents said that in many areas transformers and service lines have developed technical snags but the employees of the Power Department are not reaching out to the people.
The residents alleged: “The department is working callously. There is huge corruption in the department, which can be gauged from the fact that a Junior Engineer of PDD has been given charge of many areas in Poonch district, while there are several officials who are without charge, which indicates that the department is not serious towards the duties of providing services to people.”
“Hefty electricity bills are issued despite the fact that the power supply remains off most of the time for 6-8 hours. Recently a case of negligence on the part of the PDD came into light where a man received a bill of more than lakh of rupees without power connection,” they said.
