Early Times Report

Thathri, Jan 27: Villagers residing in far-off areas of Bhallesa demanded the restoration of essential services, especially snow clearance of roads, as they are compelled to carry patients on their backs, risking their lives in harsh winters.
In two separate videos, a patient was carried on a cot, while in another video, a patient was carried on back to the hospital by foot, 4-5 kilometres away as the road connectivity was blocked due to snowfall.
According to reports, dozens of villagers in Kota-Top village in the Bhallesa area and Hoja village in Kahara tehsil in Doda district were "forced" to carry a patient on their shoulders for around 4-5 KM distance to reach the hospital on Thursday.
According to eyewitnesses, several villagers shouldered the patient in a cot due to non clearance of snow from roads amid about 4-ft snowfall in the area.
A relative said that due to closure of Kota-Dalmeera road, he along with other persons carried him to hospital through the snow.
Another person said that due to the emergency, we carried patient on shoulders in a cot upto 4 kilometres at Dalmeera area, from where we hired a vehicle to reach District Hospital Doda, at the distance of 76 KM.
The locals urged authorities to clear the snow clogged roads leading to the inhabitation to avoid any difficulty to the patients and commoners alike in immediate future.
