Udhampur, Jan 31:: Even after 75 years of independence the Sallian Talab-Battel Ballian road in Udhampur not maintained properly and is in shambles exposing development crisis by the authorities at the helm , many times road was blacktopped but every time within few months road will again converted into pot holed
Major portion of the road is full of pits and the locals claim that condition of the road is same since years.
The road is daily used by hundreds of pedestrians and vehicles who curse the authorities concerned for not developing the vital infrastructure in the town.
While the road is awaiting blacktopping since long, much of its portion found under municipal limit has been damaged by the authorities while laying sewerage pipes
“Even after paying taxes of different types we are having such poor infrastructure to use,” Romesh Kumar, 45, of Near floor mill said adding if this is what people expect in a Union Territory.
He further said that the administration has no concern for the people using this vital infrastructure as none is bothered to care the important road in the heart of the town.
When contacted Ex.En. PWD Udhampur informed that the road repair will be started when the weather improves.
He further said that the portion of the road that lies in Municipal limit shall be repaired by UEED as notice has been send to them for the work including blacktopping.
