Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 31: It might sound strange but the fact that amid government claims to strengthen the education system in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, there were 3021 posts of Lecturers vacant on February 1, 2021, the number might be gone high till date.
Reliable sources informed Early Times that more than 3500 posts of lecturers are lying vacant in the Department of School Education, as DPC has not been done after 2019. “Government is not serious about our sufferings, in the absence of a popular government we have no say”, said the teacher wishing not to be named. He further said that bureaucracy is not listening to us and the Raj Bhawan is not accessible for everyone.
“IAS, KAS and other officers get their due well in time, but are genuine rights deliberately being kept on hold”, the teacher said.
“There were 3013 posts Lecturers vacancies in JK UT as on 01-02-2021. Education-321, Mathematics-268, English-243, Urdu-239, Physics-191, Pol Science-188, Economics-166, Botany-162, EVS-161, History-140, Chemistry-136, Hindi-95, Sociology-87, Geography-56, Commerce-51, Persian-44, IP/IT-31, Stenographer -24, Computer Sciences-23, Philosophy-22, Functional English-22, Arabic-19, Statistics-17, Punjabi-17, Sanskrit-16, Kashmiri-14, Geology-12, Psychology-9, Islamic Studies-8, Home Science-7 and Zoology-157 posts of lecturers are vacant”, he said.
He said that the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) had allowed the department of School Education to go for 100 percent placement. “The CAT has dismissed the writ petition of unemployed and allowed the department of school education to do 100% placement”, he said, adding that due to huge vacant posts of lecturers the poor students are being deprived of their right to education by the government.
“The poor and helpless students are unable to take online classes as 3500 posts of lecturers are lying vacant. The LG is being misguided by the department and giving fake information that everything is ok’’, the angry teacher said. “Satya Pal Malik the then government J&K state Charing State Administrative Council (SAC) meeting had directed to do 100 percent DPC and instead of referring posts to JKPSC as one time exemption was given to department of School Education to conduct DPC, but higher authorities seem unbothered to do justice with us”, he added.
