| JKNPP protests against murders of Dalits, destitute | | |  Early Times Report
RAMNAGAR, Jan 31: Seeking a high level probe into the gruesome murder of a 25 year old SC youth of Ramnagar in November last, the activists of JKNPP led by Harsh Dev Singh Chairman-JKNPP held a massive protest demonstration today. The protestors raised slogans against the government and local administration for their failure to nab the culprits who had executed the most heinous offence of murder.
The protesters alleged harassment and commission of atrocities against dalits in Ram Nagar. They alleged failure of the government to trace over a dozen murders of poor and destitute people of the constituency. Singh said that not only was Yashpaul reportedly brutally assassinated by the highly emboldened criminals of Ram Nagar but more than a dozen murders of poor people mostly SCs during the last 5-6 years had gone untraced with the concerned Police authorities silent over the commission of such heinous offences.
He said that not only were dozens of poor Dalits targeted and even lynched in Ram Nagar constituency during the last 5-6 years but even the duly elected Chairpersons of BDCs belonging to SC community were abused, assaulted and brutalized with castist remarks made upon them. He said that the demands by the said Chairpersons for SIT probes into the murders and mysterious deaths of dozens of SC youth in Ram Nagar in the past had also been disregarded and downplayed only because of the involvement of some influential persons enjoying patronage of ruling party. |
