| GDC Billawar organizes webinar on World Cancer Day | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 4: Department of Zoology in collaboration with IQAC and Red Ribbon Club, GDC Billawar under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav organized one day national webinar on World Cancer Day. The programme was organized under the overall supervision of Prof. Anita Jamwal, Principal of the college.
The chief guest of the webinar, Prof. Anita Jamwal in her introductory remarks explain that world Cancer Day is a great occasion to remind people of how thousands of lives can be saved namely with proper prevention, early detection, access to proper treatment and care. She appreciated the efforts of Department of Zoology, IQAC and Red Ribbon Club for organizing such a important webinar.
Dr. Nadeem Shokat medical oncologist delivered key note address about facts and figures of the cancer, its types and how to develop preventive measure against this killer disease. He said that 9.6 million people die from cancer every year. At least one third of common cancers are preventable. Cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide. |
