Early Times Report

Kishtwar, Feb 4: Facing a daunting problems following the acquisition of land by the government for the construction of the 1000 MW Pakal-Dool Power projects for merger amount coupled with non fulfilment of the promises made with the people with regard to providing of jobs in under construction power project, the people of Dachhan were up in arms against the government and are continuously protesting at different fronts from several days. As per the details available with Early Times, pinning the hopes on the ongoing agitation led by the DDC Chairperson Kishtwar Pooja Thakur, the people of Dachhan seems to lose the temper after the talks between the agitating DDC Chairperson and the Divisional level administration ended in a deadlock triggering widespread anger and resentment among the people of Dachhan area, particularly among the project affected families who comes out of their homes and started protesting at Tehsil Hq Sounder.
The angry people despite ongoing snowfall in the area are protesting at Sounder since last three days which is in addition to the ongoing Dharna by the DDC Chairperson Kishtwar, supported by her Counsellors, PRIs, Senior Citizens, members of civil society, political and social activist of Kishtwar District.
The angry people demanded fulfilment of the promises made with more than 700 project affected families by the senior officials of the Chenab Valley Power Project Corporation (CVPPP₹ Ltd with the people with regard to their absorption in the organisation.
“They promise us jobs in CVPPP and today we are even fighting to get the jobs in JP company- engaged for construction of 1000 MW Pakal-Dool HEP” said Ramzan Magrey.
Ramzan said that they are constantly visiting the office of Tehsildar Dachhan for compensation as well as to incorporate the left out families, but nothing is being done.
“We have been peanuts for our lands- we have been robbed of our homes - we have been left abandon to fetch for themselves” said Ramzan Magrey.
The angry people retreated that they will continue to fight for their cause and it is the time for them to come on roads to fight last battle for their own rights .
Meanwhile IKKJUT Kishtwar Unit Maneshwar Sharma, Aam Admi Party leader Sandeep Shan today also joined the ongoing Dharna and extended its support to DDC Chairperson and others.
“Politically our ideologies could be different- but as far as for the cause of the youths and for the welfare of our Kishtwar District we all are one and we all must show oneness” said Maneshwar Sharma.
Sharma also slam the project management for ignoring the aspirations of the local unemployed youths of Kishtwar District.
“Project management has made the list of 50 Engineers public last night- the list seems more favouring a particular political party rather then fulfilling the aspirations of poor and genuine persons bearing few among them” Sharma said and called for scrutiny of the said list to ascertain who are the beneficiaries.
Sandeep Shan of Aam Admi Party said that the local aspirations are deliberately being ignored at the cost of the few people who are close to power corridors. He said that without going into any political bickering, the people of Kishtwar must get united to fight for the cause of their unemployed youths as well as for the welfare of the District Kishtwar as whole.
“If not today- then it will be never” said Shan while making an appeal to the people to get united under one banner and only then they can challenge the power companies who are very close to power corridors then to the people.
