Fake Appointment Scam

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 4: The Director Health Services Kashmir on Friday sought the details of nearly 2774 illegal appointees in the department.
According to the details available with Early Times these illegal appointments came to fore in 2012. The investigations that were carried out revealed that these appointments had commenced in 2008-2009. These backdoor appointees were done through fraudulent orders and due to the nexus between the brokers and the officials of the Health Department these appointees were regularized. The beneficiaries were drawing their salaries from the state exchequer.
The Block Medical Officer Beerwah against whom the investigating agencies had framed the charges, was later transferred and posted as the Chief Medical Officer. The probe revealed that many compassionate appointments under SRO-43 were made without the beneficiaries having anything to do with militancy. It had also revealed that many officials were drawing salaries on fake names.
There were allegations that huge money exchanged hands for making these appointments. The modus operandi was such that a fake transfer order was issued to appoint a beneficiary in the department.
Till date many enquiries were ordered to ascertain the people involved in this scam but the probes ordered in the past were hushed up. Now the administration led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has ordered the enquiry and it remains to be seen whether the probe will be taken to its logical end or not.
