Vocational course under NAHEP-IDP enlightens students with new ideas

JAMMU, Feb 5: The week long vocational course of NAHEP-IDP, SKUAST-Jammu is going at full pace with a theme "Application of Computer and IT Tools in Improving Learning and Research Efficacy of Students". The training is being attended by 26 students of various faculties viz., Faculty of Agriculture, School of Biotechnology, Faculty of Basic Sciences and Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry. The training administered the lectures from eminent scientists to enhance the skills of the students. The scientists from IASRI, New Delhi delivered expert lectures in which lecture on mobile applications in agriculture was delivered by Dr. Soumen Pal, Artificial Intelligence was delivered by Dr. Alka Arora in which she discussed about the application of image analysis whereas Dr. Sudeep Marwaha explained the role and initiative of IT in agriculture for higher education and Dr. Anshu Bhardwaj explained Geo A.I along with its analytics. The scientists of the SKUAST-Jammu viz., Prof. Manish Sharma, Prof. Vikas Sharma, Dr. Rakesh Sharma and Dr. Anil Bhat also delivered lectures on Automation of Tools and Analyis Toolpack, Application of Computer in Research Management, Application of ICT in Agriculture and Fundamentals of Office Automation Tools, respectively. Dr. Saurabh Srivastava of SMVDU gave his lecture on role of Computer & IT in Entrepreneurship, Prof. Pawnesh Abrol from University of Jammu shared his experience on Machine Learning and its Application in Agriculture and Dr. Rakesh Kumar deliberated on Web Development framework.
The main objective of the vocational course is to promote the untapped creativity and skills of the students with a vision to prepare them as a young innovator who can become a job giver not the seeker.
