Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 5: Jammu administration yet again confused the traders on Saturday by first asking them to observe a lockdown and later easing the curbs.
Chaos and confusion prevailed in Jammu markets as businessmen were unsure about opening their establishments. However, in the afternoon some shops opened in Jammu as the administration conveyed to the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JCCI) that markets can open. Shopkeepers in Purani Mandi while talking to a local news channel said, “It seems that there is no government in place in J&K. Four people are making decisions without being aware of the ground situation. From Friday evening contradictory statements were issued about lockdown. First we were told that markets will open and then we were informed that lockdowns will continue. This morning again we were told that we can open our shops. The owners have come but the staff is on holiday. There is complete confusion and anarchy prevalent everywhere.”
They said, “Restrictions imposed by the J & K administration to curb Covid are outdated. The people who are issuing the orders to observe a lockdown need to be told that states like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi etc, have eased the curbs despite Covid cases being prevalent there also. It seems inexperienced leaders are running Jammu and Kashmir.”
