ET Impact : District Administration suspends, attach erring officials

Sunderbani, Feb 5: Taking lead from the news report of Early Times apropos to corruption in Rajouri, especially payment under MGNREGA, district administration has suspended two erring officials.
As per order No. ACDR/Estt/Gnl/2021-22/3962-3970, dated 02-02-2022, ACD Rajouri Sushil Kumar Khajuria, giving due credit to Early Times, stated that a news was published in Early Times, dated 20th January 2022 and 30 January 2022 as corruption at peak in Rajouri as MGNREGA payments have been credited and drawn through wrong accounts in Sunderbani Block.
“Accordingly Block Development Officer Sunderbani was asked vide this office letter No ACDR/Complaint/2021-2022/3921-24, dated 31-01-2022 to conduct a thorough enquiry into the matter and furnish a detailed factual report for further necessary action,” reads the order, adding that Block Development Officer Sunderbani vide letter No. BDO/SB/2021-2022/3294, Dated 02-02-2022 after conducting a detailed enquiry into the matter submitted a factual report.
The order reads, Sheel Kumar Village Level Worker then secretary Panchayat and Pankaj Kumar GRS Halqa Panchayat Nallah Block Sunderbani have primafacie violated the guidelines of MGNREGA and negligently transferred undue wages to a job card holder’s account, who has not been engaged for execution of work as two persons having the same name.
“In view of the above facts, both the above mentioned officials are hereby placed under suspension and during their suspension period they will remain attached at Block headquarters Siot till pending enquiry,” reads the order, adding that Manmeet Kumar, Block development officer Qila Darhal under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Panchayats Rajouri shall conduct a detailed enquiry into the matter and submit a final outcome for appropriate action.
It is pertinent to mention here that time and again Early Times have exposed mismanagement and corrupt elements in the system, contributing towards clean and transparent governance.
