DC Bandipora chairs DDMA meeting, reviews Covid-19 mitigation efforts

BANDIPORA, Feb 5: Chairman District Disaster Management Authority Bandipora on Saturday chaired a meeting of officers to review the mitigation efforts during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
The meeting deliberated on the Covid-19 mitigation efforts taken during second and ensuing 3rd wave besides the relief measures undertaken by the district. The meeting also discussed the requirements and the preparedness status to deal with any eventuality or surge in Covid-19 in future besides other disasters.
Threadbare discussion was held with regard to the mitigation efforts. It was given out during the meeting that various mitigation measures were undertaken during the 2nd Wave of COVID-19 due to which the over-all situation remained quite under control. Similarly, during the ensuing 3rd wave, the district was very well prepared to deal with the sudden surge in cases.
Officials said the district administration adopted multifaceted approach in providing best possible and equitable health care facilities to its citizens, not only in urban or rural areas but also in far flung habitation zones.
Contemplating about present ongoing vaccination campaign against Covid-19 pandemic, officers informed that there is a robust contingency plan operational in all districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr Owais said the district is well equipped with healthcare infrastructure as compared to the last year.
Giving details, DC Bandipora said the District Hospital is having Oxygen Plant of 2000LPM capacity which is double than the last year, with additional 300 LPM oxygen plant at CHC Dawar in Gurez. Oxygen Plant CHC Hajin will be made functional soon he added .
District has achieved about 50 percent target in its vaccination drive for 15-17 year age-group population while surplus target has been achieved for other age groups. He lauded the efforts of healthcare workers for working tirelessly in testing and vaccinating every soul of District. He said the workers moved to tough terrains, snow bound areas and other inaccessible areas amid sub-zero temperate to ensure vaccination of all youngsters.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Mohammad Zahid, Additional Deputy Commissioner Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Nodal Officer Mehraj Wani and other senior officers of the district.
