| IAF to send 5 Tejas for multi-nation air exercise | | | AGENCIES
NEW DELHI, Feb 23: The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to send five Tejas aircraft for a multi-nation air exercise named Cobra Warrior from March 6 to 27 at Waddington in the United Kingdom.
The Light Combat Aircraft will showcase its skills along with fighter aircraft of the United Kingdom and other leading air forces, an IAF statement said.
"The exercise is aimed at providing operational exposure and to share best practices among the participating Air Forces, thereby enhancing combat capability and forging bonds of friendship. This will be a platform for LCA Tejas to demonstrate its manoeuvrability and operational capability," the statement added.
The participation of Tejas in the exercise will provide another opportunity to showcase the ease of its handling and manoeuvrability.
Three indigenous Tejas aircraft recently took part in the Singapore Air Show from February 15 to 18.
IAF C-17 aircraft will also provide necessary transport support for induction and de-induction of forces during the multi-nation war game.
The IAF and Royal Air Force of Oman are currently engaged in a bilateral exercise, Eastern Bridge-VI, at the air force station at Jodhpur in Rajasthan.
Exercise Cobra Warrior is the Royal Air Force's premier tactical training event aimed at developing the tactical skills of its aircrew and supporting elements in a Composite Air Operation. |
