Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar turned scapegoats; seek explanation from DC: Altaf Bukhari | Ganderbal self-immolation incident | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 23: President of Apni Party Altaf Bukhari on Wednesday hit out at Ganderbal administration for mishandling the demolition drive which led to a youth making a self immolation bid. Talking to Early Times, Bukhari said, “The administration has put the blame on a tehsildar and naib tehsildar for the incident. The naib tehsildar has been suspended. These officials have been turned into scapegoats. Had I been there I would have sought the explanation from the Deputy Commissioner of the district. In J&K action is taken against low rung officials and top brass remains untouched.” “There is martial law in J&K. One fails to understand why no attention was paid towards human life when the demolition drive was carried out. Even during the operations against anti-nationals the human lives are first saved then any operation is carried out,” Bukhari said. He said that a delegation from Ganderbal met him in the recent past and informed that “DC doesn’t meet the people.” “In absence of a popular government, it’s mandatory for the Deputy Commissioners of every district to meet the people and hold public darbars so that grievances of the people are addressed,” he added. “I urge the Lieutenant Governor to look into the matter and enquire why DC is not meeting the people,” Bukhari added. |
