| Govt policies snatching our livelihood, allege transporters | | |  Early Times Report
Bijbehara, Mar 1: Transporters staged a protest against the Geology and Mining Department here in South Kashmir on Tuesday against the failure of the government to frame a policy for them.
“Four years ago the government had set up a proper mechanism for us to work on a royalty basis. But that royalty system has been abolished and we are being treated as outlaws. We are struggling to pay the loan installments and feed our families,” protesters told Early Times.
“The policies being framed by the government are aimed at making us unemployed. On one hand they tell us beti padhao, beti bachao but on the other hand they are not even letting us earn our livelihood in a dignified way,” they added. |
