Helpless displaced Anganwadi workers celebrate third consecutive Shivratri without wages
3/1/2022 11:50:08 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 1: The cash-starved Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is everyday spending lakhs of rupees on fake advertisements to hoodwink the people on self-claimed ‘achievements”, helpless employees are struggling to get salaries.
Over 150 displaced Anganwadi workers of Kashmir, who have been performing their duties in different parts of the Jammu region, “celebrated” one more Shivratri without wages.
For the last three years, these Anganwadi workers have been denied wages without any reason.
In January this year, Mission Director ICDS Jammu Rubina Kousar had informed that decision in this regard has to be taken by the administrative department. She had admitted that there was an issue regarding the release of wages of displaced Anganwadi workers.
The file regarding wages of the helpless Anganwadi workers has been getting dust as those at the helm of the affairs are appears to be “overburdened” with other issues rather than solving this humanitarian problem.
Migrated from different areas of Kashmir Valley in the early 1990s after the eruption of terrorism, these Anganwadi workers have been performing their duties in different Anganwadi centres in Jammu run by the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme of Socal Welfare Department.
Denying wages to these workers is not only inhuman but also contempt of the court because Supreme Court has already directed the J&K government to release our wages regularly.
Aggrieved Anganwari workers said that since 2020 they were not paid wages. In the year 2018, these workers were paid wages only for five months. Similarly, in the year 2019, only eight months of wages were released. Since 2020, authorities have stopped releasing their wages.
The Supreme Court has also directed the Jammu and Kashmir Government to release and disburse monthly honorarium to displaced migrant Anganwari workers regularly.
