PDD daily wagers rue undue delay in implementing regularization process
4/20/2022 12:40:16 AM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Apr 19: Though the J&K administration had given a go-ahead for the regularization of 12,000 daily wagers of the Power Development Department (PDD) a few months ago, the beneficiary employees are still waiting for the process to roll on.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the government had asked the top officials of the PDD to draft the recruitment rules for appointment of daily wagers in Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited and Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited.
“In the first phase, around 12,000 daily wagers had to be regularized as was announced by the government and we express our gratitude to the administration for the same. But the approval of regularization has yet to be implemented on ground. We don’t have any idea when the decision would take a concrete shape,” said one of the PDD daily wagers, who had assembled at Bari Brahmana to raise their demand in a peaceful manner.
“Our department has a policy of regularization at its disposal but regretfully even then our daily wager employees, who have rendered more than 25 years of service, are forced to run from pillar to post,” he added.
Another PDD daily wager said that they are working night and day on a meager salary and that too without any extra incentives.
“Even though we are getting only Rs 225 per day, we are still serving the department with utmost sincerity and devotion. Many of our colleagues have not received salaries for more than 30 months, however, they are dedicatedly performing their duties,” he said.
The government was not thinking about the PDD daily wagers, said another daily wager. “We have assembled here just to attract the attention of the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is visiting Jammu in a couple of days from now. We wanted to convey our concern of undue delay in implementing the regularization process to them. We just want justice,” he maintained.
