| Election Commission takes another step towards holding assembly polls in J&K | | | |

Jammu, June 15: After the Delimitation Commission has submitted its final draft, the process to review the electoral roll in Jammu and Kashmir has been initiated following the directions of the Election Commission.
Revision of the electoral roll would initiate the process of holding the first assembly elections in the newly-carved Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Reports said that authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have been directed that draft rolls will be prepared by August 31.
On June 13, Election Commission has already issued notifications regarding the appointments of election officers across the Union Territory.

Jammu, June 15: In a major breakthrough, police recovered explosives from a passenger bus near Jhajjar Kotli here in the city outskirts.
Police sources said during a routine security excercise and checking at a check point, explosive in the form of gelatin sticks were recovered from a public transport bus at Jhajjar Kotli here. "The Bomb Disposal Squad was immediately pressed into service and explosive was detonated through a controlled mechanism," they said. Srinagar, June 15: 'Agniveers', soldiers recruited in the Army, Navy and the Air Force on short-term contract under a special 'Agnipath' scheme, will get priority in recruitment to the central armed police forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles, the Union Home Ministry announced on Wednesday.

Srinagar, June 15: Security forces shot dead two Lashkar-e-Taiba militants, including the alleged killer of a bank manager, during an overnight gun battle in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district, police said on Wednesday.
