TOP STORY OF THE DAY
Not a single rupee spent on rehab of Jammu migrants
Out of PM's 80k cr package
6/30/2018 11:32:22 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, June 30: What more could reveal the failure of the previous regime in the state than the fact that for the rehabilitation of the Jammu migrants, the government didn't spend a single penny in all these years out of the allocated Rs 13 crore from the Prime Minister's package. The official documents in possession of Early Times reveal that in November 2015, a special package for the Jammu migrants was sanctioned by the government of India via Prime Minister's economic package that was announced for J&K at large. Out of the total amount of Rs 80 thousand crore, Rs 13 cr was kept for the rehabilitation of the Jammu migrants. However, as per the official figures, not even a single rupee has so far been spent on the ground for the purpose. Such a situation has taken a lid off of the claims being made by the helmsmen that there wasn't any stone left unturned to ensure the upliftment of the downtrodden in the society. Pertinent to mention here that most of the Jammu migrants who bore the brunt of militancy in the past are even at present taking shelter at Ta...

In Srinagar division alone, Rs 24 crore was surrendered during last four years, but not even a single inquiry was conducted by the former PDP-BJP government. Early Times has been continuing its crusade against fund lapses and surrenders. Last year, Early Times filed several reports on the issue. The Irrigation Division Srinagar had been exposed for its wrongdoings as it surrendered more than Rs 24 cr during three financial years (2015-2017). The funds...

'Article 35-A is the key villain': Experts
Time for BJP to act
6/30/2018 11:32:06 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, June 30: The Mehbooba Mufti-led PDP-BJP coalition government is out. It was a good riddance, as it had only promoted separatism and communalism and hurt Jammu and Ladakh the most. The fall of the Mehbooba Mufti government and the decision of the BJP to withdraw its support to her government have triggered a fierce debate. Objective observers and keen J&K-watchers have opined that Mehbooba Mufti would not change herself and that she would pursue the pro-separatist and pro-Pakistan agenda like before. They have also expressed the view that the Governor's rule is an opportunity for the BJP to undo the past wrongs committed by the Congress to drive J&K out of th...

Ram Madhav's Kashmir visits unnerve Mehbooba
6/30/2018 11:27:34 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, June 30: Even as the Bharatiya Janata Party has been hinting that it was making no attempt on "horse-trading" to form government in Jammu and Kashmir, the visits of BJPs point man on Kashmir Ram Madhav to the Valley has allegedly unnerved former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti. Sources said Mehbooba had been keenly keeping track of Ram Madhav's visits to Kashmir and his growing affinity with the separatist turned mainstream leader Sajjad Gani Lone. Sources said Mehbooba apprehends that through Sajjad Lone, the BJP was trying a secret attempt of "horse trading" by luring the "potential blacksheep in her party." Sources sa...

Mr Soz, please don't demonise Patel
Nehru mishandled J&K
6/30/2018 11:27:26 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, June 30: Congress leader and an ardent believer in the concept of greater autonomy for J&K Saif-ud-Din Soz has courted a controversy by waking a false statement that Sardar Patel, The Iron Man of India, wanted to hand over J&K to Pakistan. Last week, Soz had supported former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's assessment that "Kashmiris will prefer to be independent if they are given a chance to exercise their free will. He had also asserted that Sardar Patel wanted to hand over J&K to Pakistan. Soz's accusation against Sardar Patel is ill-founded. The fact is that it was Sardar Patel who very deftly and swiftly handled the Princely States as Home Minister ...
