Early Times Report Jammu, July 16: Although questioning of a woman Pakistan intruder is going on to ascertain her intention to cross over this side of the border, there is apprehension that terrorists are using children and women to check the alertness of troops on the Line of Control (LoC). Recently a senior Army officer admitted that 200 terrorists are trying to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir despite a ceasefire on the borders. Early Times Report JAMMU, July 16: A drone was spotted flying along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district and it was forced to retreat after Army personnel opened fire, official sources said on July 18. The drone was seen flying along the LoC near Baloni in the Krishna Gahti sector on July 15 night, they said. The alert troops opened fire and the flying object returned back to the Pakistani-occupied Kashmir side, the sources said. Amarnath Yatra: 6 pilgrims, 1 pony walla die in 36 hours; death toll 49

Early Times Report Srinagar, July 16: Six pilgrims and one pony driver died of natural causes during the Amarnath Yatra in the last 36 hours, taking the overall death toll in the ongoing pilgrimage to 49, officials said on Saturday. The death toll includes 15 yatris who lost their life in the July 8 flash flood. So far, 47 yatris and two pony drivers have lost their life during the pilgrimage which started on June 30. One pony driver had died after he fell from his horse into a deep gorge in Pahalgam. In the July 8 flash flood near the cave shrine, 15 yatris had lost their life while about 55 persons were injured....

Early Times Report Jammu, Jul 16: Amid tight security, the 17th batch of over 5,800 Amarnath pilgrims left Jammu city on Saturday morning for the twin base camps of Pahalgam and Baltal in Kashmir, officials said. The annual pilgrimage, which was suspended from Jammu last Sunday due to bad weather resumed on Monday. A flash flood triggered by heavy rains near the cave shrine on Friday last week led to the death of at least 15 people. Early Times Report Jammu, July 16: Worries ahead for authorities as Jammu and Kashmir recorded a spike in Coronavirus cases because for the first time after 149 days the Union Territory reported above 224 positive cases in a single day on Saturday. The twin capital cities-Srinagar recorded 88 cases while Jammu reported 82 positive cases in a single day. During the last 24 hours, J&K recorded 224 fresh positive cases of COVID-19. 112 fresh cases have been reported from the Jammu division and the same number from Kashmir Kashmir province, thus taking the total number of positive cases to 456829.
